About Kally

Kally is a DONA certified birth doula. She supports families in the North Metro of the Twin Cities area. She has a special place in her heart for supporting those experiencing high-risk pregnancies, birth after cesarean, planning out of hospital birth, first time parents, and parents expecting clubfoot or limb-different babies.

She was inspired to pursue birth work after her first pregnancy and birth. In her first pregnancy at the 20 week anatomy scan, she received multiple possible diagnoses for her son that introduced a dramatic rift in her prenatal care. She was caught between the large Midwifery/OB combined practice and the Maternal Fetal Medicine practice monitoring her son. Both practices assumed the other was providing the care they weren't, and many risk factors were ignored leading to poor mental health outcomes, severe preeclampsia and an urgent cesarean section.

Postpartum, Kally found herself a NICU mom, and a clubfoot/limb difference mom. These challenges helped her to find her voice to advocate for her son's care. She hopes to empower other new parents to find their voices to advocate for their own care and their children.

2.5 years after the birth of her son, Kally had an empowering home birth after cesarean (HBAC). Her HBAC was made possible by months of research, preparation, and assembly of a supportive birth team. After experiencing two very different, yet equally challenging births, Kally brings a wide range of understanding and empathy for the many ways birth can unfold.
